Purpose of the role
As a Community Rail Ambassador, you will act as a local link between your community and North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership.
This role supports our vision of Everyone Proud of our Railways by helping ensure that local voices shape railway-related projects and that engagement is genuine, inclusive and community-led.
Community Rail Ambassadors help strengthen relationships, surface ideas and connect community priorities with practical railway initiatives.
What will the role involve?
As a Community Rail Ambassador, you will:
- Build relationships with people, groups and organisations in your area
- Promote awareness of the Partnership and what we do
- Listen to local ideas, concerns and opportunities
- Help identify where railway-related projects could support community needs
- Feed insight back to the Partnership so it informs planning and delivery
You will act as our “eyes and ears” locally, helping us understand what matters most in your community and where the railway can play a positive role.

- Is passionate about their local area and its railways

- Is confident attending local events or community meetings
- Values inclusion and community-led approaches
- Understands that different communities have different priorities
You do not need previous railway experience. Curiosity, approachability and a willingness to listen are more important.

Your contribution will help ensure projects are rooted in real community need and visibly relevant to local people.
Location and time commitment
We are initially looking to recruit one Community Rail Ambassador living in each of:
- Runcorn
- Warrington
- Hooton
Time commitment: approximately 4 hours per week, with flexibility depending on local activity.

You will be supported by:
- The Community Rail Development Officer
- Other volunteers and project leads
- Communications support to help turn local insight into visible outcomes
