Community Spotlights

Chester

Chester blends deep Roman heritage with a vibrant modern identity. Its iconic city walls, amphitheatre and black-and-white Rows draw visitors year-round, while residents benefit from strong transport links, excellent schools, and a thriving food and retail scene. The River Dee adds scenic charm, offering waterside walks and outdoor events. From the Chester Races to festive markets, the city buzzes with life. With green space in Grosvenor Park and cultural venues like Storyhouse, Chester remains both historic and forward-looking. It’s a place where community pride and heritage go hand in hand.

Ellesmere Port

Once shaped by heavy industry, Ellesmere Port is now a town in transition. Attractions like the National Waterways Museum and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet bring in visitors, while major employers such as Vauxhall and emerging green energy projects are reshaping the local economy. The canal network and Shropshire Union towpath create space for leisure and reflection. Transport links are strong, and local initiatives are working hard to regenerate the town centre. Ellesmere Port is a place of heritage and ambition, with its focus firmly set on the future.

Elton

Elton is a small village with strong local character, situated just off the M56 and within easy reach of Chester and Runcorn. While the nearby Stanlow refinery reflects its industrial edge, the village itself offers a peaceful and community-centred lifestyle. With regular events, welcoming pubs and valued green space, Elton balances village tradition with convenient access. Residents enjoy walking by the River Gowy and exploring nearby wetlands, making it a quiet base for appreciating the wider Cheshire landscape.

Helsby

Helsby is instantly recognisable thanks to the striking silhouette of Helsby Hill. The hilltop views stretch across the Mersey Estuary and into North Wales, drawing walkers and nature lovers alike. A thriving community supports local shops, pubs, schools, and social groups. The railway station provides easy links to Chester, Manchester, and Liverpool, making it a well-connected home for commuters. Yet with its woodland trails and village charm, Helsby also offers a slower pace where outdoor living and community pride come naturally.

Frodsham

A market town full of energy, Frodsham boasts a busy high street and strong sense of community. Weekly markets and monthly artisan fairs bring people together, while the surrounding countryside offers fresh air and adventure. Overlooked by Frodsham Hill and connected to the Sandstone Trail, it’s a favourite for walkers. With excellent schools and quick train links to key cities, Frodsham appeals to families and commuters alike. Events like the Christmas Festival and Festival of Walks build on a history that dates back to its time as a medieval port. This is a town rich in tradition and ambition.

Runcorn

With a proud industrial history, Runcorn is forging a new identity. Regeneration projects are breathing fresh life into the town centre, while natural assets like Runcorn Hill Park add to local wellbeing. Architectural icons such as the Silver Jubilee and Mersey Gateway bridges connect the town across the Mersey, both physically and symbolically. Landmarks like Halton Castle and Norton Priory recall a long history, even as Sci-Tech Daresbury points firmly towards the future. With affordable homes, strong schools, and great connectivity, Runcorn is a town where opportunity and heritage meet.

Warrington

Warrington is one of Cheshire’s largest and most ambitious towns. Known for its logistics and business links, it’s also a place where community life thrives. New developments like Time Square are reshaping the town centre, adding places to eat, shop and relax. Families are drawn to green spaces such as Walton Hall Gardens, alongside attractions like Gulliver’s World. The arts scene includes museums, festivals, and a growing creative community. With excellent transport connections, proud rugby heritage, and a strong local identity, Warrington is both a working town and a place to call home.
