Connecting Runcorn’s eastern communities with Chester, Manchester and beyond
Runcorn East Station serves the growing eastern suburbs of Runcorn, offering direct connections to Warrington, Manchester, Chester and North Wales. Opened in 1983 as part of the Runcorn New Town development, the station was built close to the former Norton Station site, which closed in the 1950s. The nearby signal box still carries the Norton name, a reminder of the area’s proud rail heritage.
There is great potential for community-led projects to enhance the station environment, from improving biodiversity to creating local art displays. With regular services in both directions and practical facilities in place, Runcorn East continues to play an important role in the local rail network.
