Connecting Runcorn’s eastern communities with Chester, Manchester and beyond
Runcorn East Station serves the growing eastern suburbs of Runcorn and offers direct connections to Warrington, Manchester, Chester and North Wales. Opened in 1983 as part of the Runcorn New Town development, the station was built close to the former Norton station site, which closed in the 1950s. The nearby signal box still carries the Norton name — a small nod to the area’s rail heritage.
It has lots of potential opportunities for community led engagement in developing the station grounds’ bio-diversity and embracing community art. With regular services in both directions and practical facilities in place, Runcorn East plays a key role in the local rail network.
