Earlier this month, our Community Rail Development Officer, Chris Kinsella, joined a festive workshop with young people from Cheshire Buddies and Live Cheshire. Together, they created Christmas tree decorations with a special Railway 200 theme.
Local artist Sue Guildford led the workshop and helped everyone design decorations that celebrate the role of rail in our communities. With support from Transport for Wales, a 14 foot Christmas tree was set up at Chester Station on 3 December, and the group worked hard to decorate it.
The young people visited the station soon after to see their creations proudly displayed. They were delighted to spot their own artwork on the tree. As a small thank you, we handed out festive goody bags to mark their fantastic contribution.

Cheshire Buddies and Live Cheshire provide support and activities for young people with disabilities and their families. This creative project showed how community rail can bring people together, build confidence, and celebrate shared achievements.
The project received joint funding from North Cheshire CRP CIC, Mid Cheshire CRP CIC, and 3 Counties Connected CRP.
We want to thank everyone involved. This includes the young people from Live Cheshire and Cheshire Buddies, Stephanie and Louise from Cheshire Buddies, artist Sue Guildford, and the wonderful team at Transport for Wales. Their help and enthusiasm made the day a real success.
