Help Shape the Future of Community Rail

Would you like to play a key role in delivering projects that make a lasting difference to local communities?

North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership is looking for an enthusiastic and organised Project Co-ordinator and Partnership Administrator to help deliver an exciting programme of community rail projects across North Cheshire, Halton and Warrington.

This flexible part-time role offers the opportunity to work with local communities, volunteers, railway partners, local authorities and businesses to create projects that improve stations, encourage sustainable travel, celebrate local heritage and strengthen community connections.

No two days are the same. One day you could be helping organise a community event, while the next you might be supporting volunteers, coordinating a project or working with partners to develop new opportunities.

About North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership

North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership is a volunteer-led Community Interest Company working with partners across the railway industry, local government, education, businesses and the voluntary sector.

Together, we help communities get more from their railways by delivering projects that support sustainable travel, improve station environments, celebrate local heritage and create stronger connections between stations and the places they serve.

Our vision is simple: Everyone Proud of Our Railways.

About the Role

Working closely with the Directors, Community Rail Development Officer, volunteers and partner organisations, you will support the day-to-day running of the Partnership while helping to coordinate a growing programme of projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating community rail projects from planning through to delivery.
  • Supporting volunteers and community groups.
  • Organising meetings, events and project activities.
  • Maintaining project records and preparing reports.
  • Liaising with partners across the railway, local authorities, businesses and community organisations.
  • Assisting with communications, publicity and stakeholder engagement.
  • Providing administrative support to help the Partnership operate effectively.

Current Projects

You will have the opportunity to support a wide range of initiatives, including:

  • Community-led station improvement projects.
  • Music Trains and community engagement events.
  • Heritage, education and tourism initiatives.
  • Walking, cycling and sustainable travel projects.
  • Volunteer development and partnership activities.
  • New projects that strengthen local communities and encourage greater use of the railway.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and making things happen.

You will be organised, proactive and confident working both independently and as part of a small team. You will also be comfortable managing several activities at once while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

You may already have experience in project coordination, administration, community development, transport, local government, charities or the voluntary sector. However, just as important is your enthusiasm for partnership working and your ability to build positive relationships.

Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.

What We Offer

This is an opportunity to become part of a growing organisation that is making a visible difference across North Cheshire.

We offer:

  • Flexible hybrid working.
  • A varied and rewarding role.
  • The opportunity to shape projects from idea to delivery.
  • Close working with a wide range of partners.
  • The chance to help build an ambitious Community Rail Partnership with a growing regional profile.
