Plans are underway to bring new life to Ellesmere Port railway station through community-led projects that will enhance the welcome for passengers, staff, and the wider neighbourhood.
The station already has many strengths: brand-new trains providing frequent, fully accessible services to the Wirral and Liverpool, secure cycle storage, and a large free car park. Now, our vision is to make the station a place to be proud of, with sustainable planting, projects to improve biodiversity, imaginative artwork, and a community hub that helps people connect with nature.
We’re building on the long-standing commitment of local volunteers in Ellesmere Port. To take this forward, we’ve partnered with the successful team from Love Our Railways, led by Dr George Lamb. We’ve also held early discussions with the Networks for Nature project, hosted at Chester Zoo, which is already inspiring community interest across the town.
As plans develop, we’ll be sharing more details. In the meantime, we’re inviting local people to get involved. There are many ways to help, from gardening and designing community art to supporting us behind the scenes by working with groups and organisations.
If you’d like to volunteer, please contact us at enquiries@northcheshirecrp.org or g_wlamb@hotmail.co.uk. You can also get in touch with Love Our Railways via their Love Bebington pages on Facebook and Instagram.
Together, let’s make Ellesmere Port Station greener, brighter, and a place that reflects the pride of our community.
