Growing community support for Ellesmere Port Station
North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership is delighted to see the Friends of Ellesmere Port Station continue to grow.
Seven new volunteers have recently completed their station induction. They are now ready to support activities at the station and help create a welcoming environment for passengers and the local community.
Peter Brown and Babajide Lawal completed their induction on 20 May. They recently represented Ellesmere Port during Community Rail Week at Liverpool Central Station. They are now among the growing number of volunteers supporting activities at the station.
The latest induction marks another positive step for the group. Volunteers including Neil Doughty, Paula Blair, Christine Brown, Sophie Darch, Lorna Jeffs, Kenny Spain and Carole Spain came together as part of the growing Friends of Ellesmere Port Station group.
Furthermore, additional volunteers are expected to join in the coming weeks. As a result, community involvement at the station continues to grow.
Building on more than 20 years of dedication

The growth of the group is particularly significant for long-standing volunteers Kenny and Carole Spain.
For more than two decades, they have supported Ellesmere Port Station. They have also championed improvements that help make the station a more welcoming place for passengers and visitors.
Now, a growing team of volunteers is joining the group. Therefore, Kenny and Carole are seeing the wider community support they have long hoped for.
Neil Doughty has agreed to take on the role of Lead Volunteer. In addition, he will help coordinate activities and support the continued development of the group.
Volunteers preparing for station improvement day

The newly inducted volunteers will soon put their enthusiasm into action.
On 12 June, Friends of Ellesmere Port Station will join volunteers from Merseyrail and Network Rail for a station improvement day.
The team will repair and repaint planters. They will also clear debris from the station grounds and improve the appearance of the station environment.
By working together, volunteers and rail industry partners will create a cleaner, greener and more welcoming station for everyone who uses it.
Community rail in action
Volunteer groups play an important role in helping stations reflect the communities they serve.
They support gardening projects, environmental improvements, heritage activities and community engagement. Consequently, they help strengthen the connection between local people and their railway.
The continued growth of the Friends of Ellesmere Port Station group demonstrates the positive impact of community rail. It shows what can happen when local people come together to support their station.
North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership would like to thank all the volunteers involved. We also wish the group every success as it continues to grow.
