Welcome to Hooton Station

A key interchange with excellent connections and facilities in South Wirral

Hooton Station is a busy and well-connected stop on the Merseyrail Wirral Line, serving the villages of Hooton and Willaston. Sitting just north of Chester and south-west of Liverpool, it plays a role as a junction between the Chester–Liverpool route and the Ellesmere Port branch. With strong transport links and a large park and ride facility, it’s a popular choice for commuters heading to Birkenhead, Liverpool, and beyond.

The station is easy to reach from Junction 5 of the M53 and via the A550 from north east Wales. It also offers modern facilities including accessible toilets, new waiting rooms, and is a starting point for exploring Wirral Country Park. With improvements made in recent years, Hooton is now a welcoming and accessible station that supports everyday journeys and wider travel.
