Ince & Elton

Ince and Elton are villages and civil parishes in the county of Cheshire. Ince is situated immediately to the east of Stanlow Oil Refinery. Elton is situated approx. 8 miles to the north east of Chester near to the river Mersey. Elton’s proximity to the river and the Manchester Ship Canal have contributed to its industrial character.

Station information

Ince & Elton railway station, on the Ellesmere Port to Warrington Line, serves both Ince and Elton in Cheshire, England. The station offers limited Monday to Saturday services to Ellesmere Port, Stanlow & Thornton, Helsby, Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Bank Quay. Additionally, you can now travel to Leeds on Northern’s daily return service departing Ince & Elton at 7.22am, returning from Leeds at 15.38. Find out more and plan your journey here

Visiting Ince & Elton

Visit the stunning St. James the Great Church in Ince. Dating from the 15th century, historians believe that a Norman church existed on the site around 1086, sadly nothing remains of this building. The church has some stunning stained-glass windows and invites visitors to join them for a hot drink after Sunday services. Find out more

Formerly the site of the Shell Technology, Exploration and Research Centre, Thornton Science Park hosts the University of Chester’s Faculty of Science and Engineering.
