Get Involved
Many of our stations are proud participants of the nationwide “Station Adoption” scheme which brings together volunteers from the local community to care for and improve their local station environments. The station improvements are varied and range from breathing new life into disused railway property, improving accessibility throughout stations, creating bespoke artwork or simply developing a floral display to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for passengers.
Station adoption schemes vary in size from station to station and come in many shapes and sizes. There are over 1000 existing schemes nationwide, engaging volunteers and local community members to work together to generate pride in station environments and help to create sustainable travel solutions across the railway.
Station Adoption is a great facilitator for community inclusion, bringing together different local groups including schools, charities and businesses to tackle environmental issues, deliver better station environments and create a positive difference for everyone. It’s a fantastic way to create a welcoming station environment and generate community spirit.
