Our Aims and Objectives
Our CRP aims and objectives have been developed in line with the Department for Transport’s New Community Rail Development Strategy to help develop and promote localised sustainable rail travel.
Broadly speaking they currently include:
To develop the Hooton to Helsby line as a showpiece regional railway with a high level of community involvement, attractive station facilities, good co-ordination with other forms of transport and a service that meets the needs of local people and visitors to provide value for money for passengers and taxpayers.
To develop the line as a national demonstration project focussing on social enterprise and sustainable development along a rail corridor.
To develop links with local Community Rail Partnerships especially the Mid-Cheshire Line Community Rail Partnership, the Borderlands Line, Chester – Shrewsbury Line and others.
To develop links with the Regional and National Rail Operators that link with the North-Cheshire line, especially Northern, Merseyrail, Transport for Wales, Avanti West Coast.
To develop links with Regional Bus and Coach Operators that link with the North-Cheshire line, especially Stagecoach and Arriva.
