Volunteer with North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership

Volunteering with North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership offers the opportunity to contribute to visible improvements in your local community. In doing so, you can support sustainable travel, strengthen local connections and help shape activity that reflects the places we serve.

In addition, our work forms part of the wider Community Rail movement across the UK. You can learn more about that national network on the Community Rail Network website. As a result, local volunteering connects directly to a much broader national programme.

Importantly, volunteers are not just there to deliver activity. Instead, they help shape it.

What You Could Be Involved In

There are many ways to volunteer with North Cheshire Community Rail Partnership. Whether you prefer practical, hands-on activity or something more strategic, there is likely to be a role that suits you.

For example, you might support:

  • Station improvements such as planters, signage and small environmental projects
  • Community events and local engagement activities
  • Heritage and history projects celebrating the story of the railway
  • Research and education initiatives linked to schools or community groups
  • Communications and digital content
  • Leadership or coordination roles supporting local volunteer activity

In particular, some volunteers focus on improving the look and feel of stations, while others help develop ideas, partnerships and new initiatives. As a result, the Partnership benefits from a wide range of skills and experience.

Importantly, you do not need previous experience to get involved. Instead, we look for enthusiasm, reliability and a willingness to contribute.
